Finding discount hydroponics supplies is a lot easier than it used to be.
While you may be able to find hydroponics equipment at a local gardening store, I’ve found that Amazon.com has the best prices and the largest selection of hydroponics supplies anywhere.

First off, If you’re not experienced with Hydroponics I’d recommend getting a copy of How to Hydroponics 4th edition by Keith Roberto.
Keith gives you step-by-step guides complete with photographs to make your first hydroponics system easy to setup. The 4th edition has been updated with the latest tips and tricks, and even includes a section on Aeroponics!
The money you spend on this book could save you hundreds of dollars and countless hours of wasted effort, and will help to ensure that your first attempt at a hydroponics setup is a success.
Basic Discount Hydroponics Supplies:
These are simple – just little plastic cups with holes in them, however they’re an essential part of setting up a hydroponics system.
Hydroponics systems require good drainage, and these cups work great.
I recommend using the the Hydroton Clay Aggregate grow media listed to the right with these cups for best results.
Hydroton Clay Media is highly recommended as the best for hydroponics systems.
For less than $20 you’ll get a 10 liter bag of grow media which should last you quite a while.
Rockwool is another option, however the clay media does a better job of drainage and allowing oxygenating the roots.
Discount Hydroponic Pumps & Timers:
This handy little water pump can move up to 185 gallons an hour – and uses an oil-free magnetic motor for trouble-free use.
This is a perfect pump for a small to moderate size Hydroponic setup.
At a price around $12 this little pump is a bargain!
A timer is a must-have in any hydroponic system, and new digital timers are easy to setup and easy to use.
This unit even has a battery backup to ensure that your waterings stay on time every time, plus you can schedule up to 8 on/off cycles a day!
Hydroponics Lighting Kits
For an indoor hydroponics setup, a lighting system is a must. This high-output fluorescent lighting system puts out double the light of comparable systems (up to 6800 lumens) while using less electricity.

You can spend less than $100 for a complete hydroponics system if utilizing natural light. Considering that Hydroponics allow you to grow 2 to 3 times more plants in the same space, AND grow those plants in less than half the time I think Hydroponics are not only a great value but a must for any serious grower!
